"Find A Great Greenhouse
The Easy Way"
Finding the right greenhouse is a nightmare. There are a bewildering number of
options available. Many affect each other, and all affect the price.
And when you cite those options for a price comparison, a dealer will tell you that you need something entirely
different -- something only he can provide. It's enough to make a grown man cry. Or just give up with the thought
that "maybe next year ..."
I've gone through this cycle myself. I was mad at the senseless complexity of the process. This year I vowed
would be the last. I'd find a great greenhouse this time, or never look again.
I started by asking "big picture" questions:
• What is the desired outcome?
• Which variables are critically important (not merely cosmetic)?
• Of the few truly important variables, which options provide the best values?
Only then, having identified an IDEAL "great greenhouse," would I look for merchants who could deliver it at a
great price.
The first step was to specify the desired outcome:
• A long lasting greenhouse
• with minimal maintenance.
That simplified things amazingly.
Darned if I wanted to spend my time working ON my green house, I wanted to work IN it. Many "low cost" options
are long term disasters. Total value is more important than initial price.
